Annett Bank

Annett focuses on the coexistence between silence and dynamic. “I aim to depict the human body in movement as concentrated as possible to arrive at an image of intense energy and elegance. My ideas come from the esoteric concept of ‘dynamic meditation’; which is executed whilst one is in a state of heightened awareness and consciously present. Here, one is to feel a deep stillness, peace and joy, but simultaneously experiences sensations of intense aliveness, power and radiance.“

Influenced by the German Expressionism of her home country, Annett has always been interested in colorful representations of the figure. When studying for her BA (Hons) at Northbrook College Sussex, felt drawn to develop ambiguous body forms engaged in enigmatic actions. By fusing the real with the dreamlike; her work has become a representation of our potential true nature seen from the perspective of metaphysics. Her work thus carries a certain spiritual connotation as it strives to picture an ideal of harmony, balance and stability within the human being in an otherwise ever faster moving world.
